Arbour House, a Modern Two Storey Residence in Australia

Arbour House is an elegant modern residence located in Australia, on the Bulimba Reach of the Brisbane River. It has been envisioned by Australian based studio Richard Kirk Architect, which delivers creative, functional and really wonderful buildings to their clients, buildings that are also built in strong connection to their landscape. Once part of the surrounding multi-residential enclave, the site is now a single detached  two storey dwelling, a riverfront house situated on a significant distance from the river’s edge distinguishing by historic public views from the boardwalk and an 80 year old Poincianna tree.

The concept of the house adopts a courtyard typology with two pavillions linked by a large double height stairwell and external courtyard. Arbour House has a platform for a private garden under the shade of the canopy of the Poincianna tree, while inside features a stylish interior showcasing a lot of wood, contemporary furniture and large windows for natural lighting. The private bedroom spaces situated on the upper level are raised to a height to afford views of the tree canopy and river yet privacy from the public river boardwalk.
