Major Renovation for London’s Famous Met Bar

Part of the fantastic contemporary hotel, The Metropolitan Hotel from Park Lane, London, the famous Met Bar has set the trend for the ultimate great night in the heart of London for the last 15 years. After a fully refurbishment, the Met Bar re-opened its doors at the end of 2011 showcasing new levels of sophistication enabling relaxed networking for those wanting the perfect lunchtime or evening. Its extravagant updated décor designed by London-based design consultancy Forme UK goes hand in hand with its expanded and innovative cocktail menu and new food menu with iconic British food, being a modern destination bar to all from early in the day to late at night.

Before the major renovation began, the original interiors of the Met Bar were sold for auction on eBay to raise funds to The Metropolitan Hotel’s official charity partner, “Teens Unite- Fighting Cancer”.

The striking design approach gives to the space personality, creating a British classic ambiance. A sleek clack lava-stone bar to snakes through the space capping a leather-clad bar front. Rich timber sets off the warm plum and butterscotch  tones of the banquets and chairs. The space features an appealing classic cardboard surface with a 3-d twist, showing the clients  beautiful „dancing” graphics designed by London-based design studio, Giles Miller, specialized in the development of truly innovative surfaces for interior and retail design projects. The painted glass tables’ golden highlights reflect the natural light that floods into the bar during day through the new glass wall. The long electromagnetic glass wall is clear by day, but turns opaque as night falls to keep things private and privileged.
