Designer Ariana Grillo is bringing her signature modern industrial style to the world of vacation home rentalsalongwitharchitect Michael McBean. She recently renovated a 20-year-old cabin in West Kill, New York that’s now available for rent on Airbnb.
The 1630 sqft country home is nestled in a scenic, quiet community far away from the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple. It features breathtaking mountain views and a look that feels welcoming and relaxing.
The floor plan consists of two bedrooms & bathrooms, a living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, an attic lounge, and a beautiful deck to enjoy the views all year long, but mostly, in winter. It’s perfect for couples looking to getaway for the weekend or small families.
“Our goal in this design was to provide a space that would take you away from the mundane and hectic New York City, allowing guests to relax while feeling still at home. We went for cozy, a bit country classic and still airy,” said the designer.
Grillo decided to keep the wood ceilings and wood floors from the old space to maintain the “soul” of the cabin. She then added a creamy tone to the walls, rustic leather furniture for an earthy palette, and an ethnic mix of accents and details. The kitchen area has been redone withItalianquartzite and stainless-steel appliances for a more modern feel. It extends into the dining room that’s perfect for larger groups. It makes for the perfect setting for a newly renovated country house with all the comforts holiday travelers expect from a unique vacation home.
The high ceilings create an open space lined with floor-length windows for maximum natural light. It’s hard to take a few steps without being reminded of the outdoors. An elegant spiral staircase separates the two floors to give each one a distinct flavor. Grillo fuses the interior and exterior by keeping the windows free and accessible to the guests, while lining the home with fresh flowers from the surrounding woodlands.
It’s rare to find such a modern look in a cabin upstate, but Grillo has discovered the best of both worlds. The home highlights the latest architectural trends while elevating the country experience. Travelers from the city will feel right at home in the woods of Upstate New York.
