Why People Choose Apple over Samsung

There are two leading players in the smartphone industry: Apple and Samsung. Many other brands have tried to compete in the market, but nobody has been able to accomplish what these two brands have in terms of popularity and demand. Samsung is the only brand that successfully competes with Apple in the smartphone market. And although more people prefer Apple, Samsung still has a die-hard fan base of people who absolutely love their phones.

While everyone’s preferences are perfectly valid, there are some very specific reasons people choose Apple over Samsung.

Apple’s iPhone is the original smartphone

Usually, someone comes out with a new invention and then other companies create similar devices that are even better than the original. The original company either disappears or tries to catch up, and can’t seem to make any headway in the market they created. However, that’s not the case with the iPhone. When Apple launched the first iPhone in 2007, it was the first smartphone ever made. Seventeen years later, Apple still dominates the smartphone market and releases a new iPhone lineup every year.

Apple has not only branded itself as the company that invented the smartphone, but the company continues to innovate year after year, preventing other companies from overtaking the market.

Apple’s user experience is flawless

Part of the reason Apple dominates the smartphone market is because they have created a user experience that has people hooked. Even when other companies attempt to mimic Apple’s user experience and user interface, it’s not the same. It doesn’t matter what device you use – an iPhone, iPad, iPod, Apple Watch, or anything else – the user experience is the same.

For example, it’s not just about being able to swipe right or left to access multiple screens that display a variety of apps. It’s the aesthetics, including the rounded app icon corners, the spacing between app icons, and the way icons move when you pick them up, move them, or tap to open the application. It’s the haptic feedback that feels so pleasing to your brain, the sounds, the colors, the navigation, the placement of settings, and everything in-between. Android may look and behave the same, but it’s a completely different experience.

Despite iPhones being the more expensive option, people find all sorts of ways to get their hands on one. Sometimes they wait for Black Friday deals, sign multi-year contracts with a new phone company, or upgrade through their existing plan with a trade-in. Some people save up for a long time just to buy a new iPhone because they really aren’t cheap.

For instance, the new iPhone 16 costs between $800 and $1100 in the U.S. The extra expense is worth it, though, and as long as people protect their iPhone with a good case and get phone insurance, they don’t have anything to worry about.

Apple connects all devices through its ecosystem

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons people choose Apple over Samsung is to keep all of their devices connected and synched. Through iCloud, you can access just about anything on any Apple device as long as you log into your iCloud account. You can even download files, photos, and settings to new devices, which makes getting a new phone a breeze.

Apple devices are high-quality

The high price tag on Apple devices isn’t without merit. Apple produces some high-end devices, and they last much longer than other brands. Many people aren’t willing to risk buying a device of any kind that needs to be replaced because its demise is predictable. Every electronic device has a finite lifespan, but Apple devices last longer than other brands. In fact, most Apple devices still work perfectly even after Apple stops supporting software updates. If not for the security issues, many people wouldn’t even get a replacement since Apple supports updates for upwards of eight years.

App security

When it comes to Samsung phones that run on Android, apps aren’t held to high standards before being approved. Apple, on the other hand, has extremely high standards and apps must pass a rigorous test to ensure they’re free from malware before being approved for download.

Consumers just prefer Apple

The bottom line is that most people prefer Apple over Samsung for valid reasons. That doesn’t make die-hard Samsung fans wrong; it just means that the majority of consumers prefer the experience Apple has created.

Still, Samsung does pretty well in the market, and there will always be room for both.
