While Pergo is a brand of laminate flooring, many people use the word Pergo interchangeably with laminate flooring.

Laminate flooring is flooring that is designed to look like hardwood flooring, but is cheaper and requires less maintenance.

If you are thinking about installing laminate flooring, or Pergo flooring, here are four factors that may affect the price you will pay for Pergo flooring.

The Pergo Flooring Itself

One of the factors that can affect the price you will pay for Pergo laminate flooring is the flooring itself. Pergo makes many different types of laminate floors, ranging from around $1.50 per square foot to $6.00 per square foot. If you select a higher end material, your overall costs will be higher. If you select a lower end material, your costs will be lower. Price out different types of Pergo flooring to find one that fits within your budget.

The Size and Shape of Your Room

The size and shape of your room will also affect your overall cost of Pergo flooring. The larger your room is, the more materials you need and the higher labor costs will be. If your room is oddly shaped, you’ll need a flooring installation professional to cut special pieces to help it fit within the space. As such, the size and shape of your room have a direct impact on the amount you will pay for this type of flooring.

The Condition of Your Sub-Floor

One of the lesser known factors that can affect the price you will pay for new Pergo flooring is the condition of your sub-floor. Pergo flooring is laid directly on top of your sub-floor. If the subfloor is moldy, it needs to be treated before flooring can be installed. If the subfloor is not level, it will need to be leveled out. Unfortunately, you often do not know the condition of your sub-floor until your old flooring is removed, so it can be hard to budget for subfloor issues.

Clean-Up and Removal Costs

Lastly, the type of floor that is already in place can affect the price you will pay for Pergo flooring. The old flooring has to be removed and hauled away before the new flooring can be installed. Tile is typically the most expensive to remove and haul away, while carpet is typically the cheapest, as it is the fastest and easiest to remove.

The costs you will pay to have Pergo flooring or laminate flooring in your home will vary based on the price you pay for the Pergo flooring materials themselves, the size and shape of your roof, the condition of your sub-floor and clean-up and removal costs.

Angi, formerly Angie’s List, lists the average cost for Pergo laminate flooring is $3.00 per square foot for the supplies and about $5.00 per square foot for installation. Most people pay anywhere from $1500 to $7000 to have Pergo flooring installed in their home.
