The Anhui Provincial Art Museum is the third museum building to be designed after the Anhui Provincial Paleontological Fossils Museum and the Anhui Provincial New Museum, all belonging to a big masterplan in Eastern China surrounded by a big green area. The project is developed by Real Time Architecture (RTA-Office) and will occupy the Southwest corner of the park, a new politic and cultural district. The design of the art museum will have modern architectural concept, simple and elegant, with complete functions and in accordance with the surroundings.
Finding inspiration from the rugged mountain landscapes, the natural elements, and the provincial artwork – silk painting and wood carving – unique of Anhui Province, it consists of two separate buildings which seems like a unified body through the poetic design of the skin. Because it’s designed with the aim of holding international art activities, the Anhui Provincial Art Museum pays special attention to spaces’ distribution. The museum complex aims to achieve different functions such as collection, research, exhibition, education, communication, services, features; it focuses on collections. Exhibition reflects the history of art development in Anhui province and outside through artists’ works of art, literature and so on.
