Tips for staying motivated with dance workout videos

There is no question that dance workout videos are a great way to get in shape and have fun while doing so. But, like any other type of workout, it can be tough to stay motivated when you’re working out at home by yourself.

Here are some tips for staying motivated with dance workout videos:

1. Find a video that is fun for you

It’s important to find a type of dance workout video that will motivate you. For example, if you’ve always wanted to take hip hop dance lessons, then search online for an easy-to-follow hip hop dance video with a good instructor so that even beginners can follow along. If you prefer working out in a group setting, then find a dance video that has a social component to it, like the DanceOn Network’s Dance Party series.

2. Make a schedule and stick to it

If you struggle with staying motivated, then making a schedule for yourself can be really helpful. Dedicate specific days of the week to your dance workout video and try to stick to that schedule as closely as possible. This will help you to stay on track and make it feel like less of a chore.

3. Find a workout buddy

Working out with someone else can be really motivating – especially if that person is also working out to a dance video. Find a friend or family member who is interested in trying out dance workouts with you, and make a plan to workout together at least once a week. Not only will this be more fun, but you’ll also be able to hold each other accountable.

4. Make it a social event

If you don’t have anyone to workout with, consider making your dance video workout a social event. Invite some friends over and get together to dance and workout with your favorite video. Even if you don’t know any of your friends who come over, introduce yourself and make a connection while dancing. You’ll be amazed at how much more fun working out can be when it’s a group event

5. Have the right equipment

One of the benefits of working out with dance videos is that you don’t need any special equipment. That said, having the right equipment can make your workout more enjoyable. If you have a good quality pair of sneakers, for example, you’ll be less likely to get tired during your dance video workout. Make sure to also have a clean, large space for your workout and a portable device to play your videos on.

6. Set up a home studio

If you have the money, consider investing in some equipment that will help make it feel like you’re working out at a dance studio. For example, invest in a good mirror so you can watch yourself while dancing. You might also consider purchasing a portable dance floor, which provides a better grip when exercising and is much easier to clean than your carpet or hardwood floors.

7. Take breaks when you need them

If it feels like you’re struggling during your workout, then take a break if needed. Remember that there are no rules for when you should be taking a break. If you’re feeling exhausted, take 15 minutes to rest and drink some water before continuing on with your workout.

8. Don’t compare yourself to others

It’s important not to compare yourself to other people in your dance workout videos. Everyone has different levels of ability and comfort when it comes to working out, and there’s no reason to beat yourself up or feel bad about your own abilities. You might also want to avoid comparing yourself to professional dancers in videos – remember that they have been dancing for most of their lives and you probably haven’t had the same kind of training.

9. Listen to music that makes you happy

Instead of listening to music that might induce stress or anxiety, try listening to music that makes you happy. Finding the right kind of music will not only make your dance workout feel less like work, but it can also motivate you. If you find yourself getting tired or bored while working out, try listening to some upbeat songs and see if this changes your mood for the better.

10. Reward yourself after a workout

One way to stay motivated during your dance workout video is to reward yourself after completing it. This could be something as simple as taking a hot bath or eating your favorite food.

It’s important to find something that works for you and helps to keep you motivated throughout your workout. Celebrate your success with yourself and you’ll be more likely to stick with it in the future.
