Epoxy paint is perfect for solid surfaces, such as in basements and garages; it can also be used to coat wood floors. However, before the wood accepts the epoxy, a few vital preparation steps are necessary.

Wood floors painted with varnish or sealer are not favorable to the adhesion of epoxy paint. These coatings must be extracted using a palm or an electric sander before the applying begins.

priming: Open wood surfaces are inadequately suited to the adhesion of paint. Before the epoxy paint adheres to a wooden floor, it must be coated with an acrylic latex primer. 

The primer must be implemented using a roller fixed on a rolling post. Primed wood floors should dry for at least three hours before being ready for epoxy painting.

Mixed: The epoxy paint will prevail wet until the two components are mixed together. The resin and catalyst should be mixed in a 5-gallon bucket for at least five minutes, using a wooden stick. Unseemly shaking can make the epoxy uneven and smudgy.

Application: The epoxy paint must be implemented using a roller fixed on a rolling post. However, the roller must be furnished with a loss-resistant surface cover. 

The epoxy will begin to dry quickly, so all the floor should be coated in one session, as the epoxy will not keep for more than an hour or two.

considerations: When applying epoxy to wooden floors, always begin within a remote corner and work backward toward the point of exit from the room. Otherwise, you may get caught in the wet epoxy paint.
