The survey recorded the opinion of 500 Australians who were asked what it is that would bring them back to a restaurant. A majority of those surveyed, about 42.7 percent, said that they would go back because of the atmosphere of the place. Approximately 40.8 percent of those questioned said it would be for the restaurant’s customer service. Around 28.9 percent answered that it is for the value that they’ll come back. About 20.8 percent replied that it is because of convenience. Only 1.4 percent of those surveyed gave other reasons.

    Clearly, the survey shows that a majority of people return to a restaurant because of its ambience. The atmosphere in a restaurant appears to be more important than the food it is offering.     Natural Textures Will Increase

    In line with trend number one, the use of natural textures in restaurants’ interior design will increase. Cozy natural restaurant interiors will be the ‘in’ thing because it can add more to the tasty experience that diners will have. By integrating apps and remote control, restaurants can control every single bulb in every part of their premises from changing colors, dimming colors, turning them on and off, and so forth.

    Classic Finishes Will Return

    In the 60s and the 70s, Chrome was very popular. This metal has returned in runway clothing from Gucci to Kenzo. It is now making a comeback in modern restaurant interiors. Anna Polonsky and Amy Morris, both designers at The MP Shift design studio say that Chrome will come back in 2018 and will be this year’s finish du jour, instead of brass. The two said that they are designing a place in Houston with chrome at the soffit of the bar and at the chrome kick in the banquette.

    Vintage Will Be Mixed With Modern

    Vintage pieces are also making a comeback. They will be mixed with modern restaurant projects. Artful furniture pieces, velvet upholstery and other luxurious vintage interiors will be incorporated in contemporary interior design layouts.

    Opened this year, Gochi Restaurant is part of Crown Entertainment Complex and although it’s seems to be tucked away in a corner in a middle of a passageway, it will pleasantly surprise you with the food, service, and peaceful atmosphere. The space is well planned and the combination between textured materials and simple yet bold color scheme, distinctive for traditional Japanese interiors, exudes warmth and coziness. Red floor to ceiling sliding doors provides transparency, a sense of mystery and intrigue to passers-by, but also an intimate kind of feeling while separate the restaurant from passageway.

    Proof that you are experiencing a modern take on a traditional Japanese style restaurant are the creative and eye-catching design details such as some parts of the ceiling structure which are made up of interwoven ropes or well-known chopsticks were transformed into custom-designed lighting which scale the walls. Edgy, comfortable, personalized. The mix of warm timbers and black and red color palette makes the restaurant interior exhales a certain sophistication that resonate with its Asian style.

    Cool Cafeteria Design Showcasing Modern Art Inspiration

    We’re sure that all of you have entered in a cafeteria at least once in life and could remember how uninspired and unattractive design display most of them, so today we’re showing you a totally unique and in the same time surprising cafeteria design for which the internationally acclaimed artist Tobias Rehberger received the Golden Lion as best artist at the 53rd International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia.

    We have to recognize that this cafeteria concept have nothing in common with those we know and it’s really a very inspiring place that reinvented the past ways of exhibition and turned its work of art into a trendy cafeteria. The modern art cafeteria called “Was du liebst, bringt dicht auch zum weinen” (“What do you love also makes you cry” in German) showcases geometric shapes and bright constrasting colors which intersects and interrupts each other forming complex patterns, a decorative style inspired by dazzle camouflage or dazzle painting used very much in World War I as a form of visual military deception.

    The result was an amazingly cool environment that indeed created visually desorientation for the viewers and impressed through the ingenious use of customized furniture from Finnish furniture company Artek that complement and complete the whole design. This retro-inspired modern art cafeteria (if that makes any sense) pointed also the idea that catering halls deserve a more creative and artistic attention than they have in this moment.     VIP Dining Experience at Pak Loh Restaurant in Hong Kong

    Opened since 1967, Pak Loh is a traditional, Hong Kong based family restaurant that serves Chiu Chow cuisine, a particular Chinese food. Situated in the heart of a building block in Causeway Bay district, Hong Kong, their highly successful flagship restaurant got in 2012 a new image for its public entrance area and for ‘Lo Mei food preparation area’, which was transformed into an exclusive VIP dining room by Hong Kong & Antwerp based architectural design and research practice LEAD.

    This new lounge area is somehow separated from the restaurant main entrance by a public passageway, being positioned in front of the building block’s façade of the Pak Loh Chiu Chow Restaurant, situation that was seen as an opportunity by LEAD’s architects and designers to engage those passers by in an authentic and playful visual theatre. Causeway Bay’s busy street-life and the VIP room hidden deep inside interact in a beautiful manner, all designed elements ensuring a continuity between the publically accessible space and the private one.

    They worked with geometrical elements, played with reflections and transparencies and amplified perspectival views, in order to trigger curiosity and seduce potential clients to enter Pak Loh Restaurant’s VIP dining area. Inside, the luxurious private space exudes elegance and intimacy. It reveals a seductive game of exposure and concealment with stylish curves and mirror and fins that replaced the space-limiting items such as walls and corners, all of them working together to create a unique dining experience.
