As much as we need to enjoy the look of our flooring, there’s no point in pretending we don’t have to spend time cleaning and maintaining our floors. Most of us find cleaning a chore, especially if we come from a busy family household, so we need something that’s going to make our cleaning routine a little easier. So, if you’re looking for a new flooring for the kitchen or bathroom where cleaning is more necessary, we’re going to talk you through the types of flooring which are easiest to clean and maintain and why.
Luxury Vinyl Tiles
LVT is certainly one of the best options when it comes to low-maintenance flooring. It’s water, scratch and stain proof – perfect for rooms that see high exposure to this like the kitchen and bathroom.
Cleaning is very straight forward too, with only warm soapy water needed if you’ve run out of floor cleaner! You don’t have to sacrifice style either, LVT is so good at imitation natural products such as wood that often it’s nearly impossible to tell them apart!
Laminate
Another homeowners favourite. Not only is laminate one of the cheapest flooring options available, but it doesn’t require much attention to keep it looking fresh. Resistant to stain, scratches and water, laminate is sure to give you an easy ride. The only downside with laminate is that if damage does occur, you’ll likely have to replace the whole floor as it can’t be refinished or replaced.
Wood
Wood is not only the most beautiful flooring there is (we think) but hosts an array of practical benefits too. You do have to be more careful with maintenance however as it can scratch, stain and is no good when it comes into contact with water. Wood is however extremely durable and will last for a lifetime if cared for properly. The best part is that you can sand it down and refinish it to eradicate any damage, so if you’re prepared for a little more everyday maintenance then wood flooring might be your best bet!
