  • New Luxury Residential Complex in Seoul, Korea

New Luxury Residential Complex in Seoul, Korea

“The Cloud” is the name of the new luxury residential complex in Seoul, which is set to be finished in 2015. Designed by Rotterdam-based architecture firm MVRDV, the complex features two connected residential towers and it’s part of a masterplan for the area by New York architects Studio Libeskind whose objective is to extend the business district of the South Korean, capital Seoul.

Located within the Yongsan Dreamhub project, MVRDV’s skyscrapers with a total surface of 128,000m2 would display an interesting pixelated design. Both are connected by a pixelated cluster of blocks collectively named “The Cloud”, which would accomodate besides the residential function, 14,357m2 of amenities: a sky lounge–a large connecting atrium, a wellness centre, conference centre, fitness studio, various pools, restaurants and cafes.

A series of public and private outside spaces, patios, decks, gardens and pools will be find on top of the cloud. To allow fast access, the cloud is accessible by special express elevators. Range from 80m2 to 260m2, the luxury apartments offer double height ceilings, patios or gardens, fine daylight conditions and cross ventilation and not to forget panoramic views. A pretty cool concept which unfortunatly has stirred controversy in the media because of its striking resemblance to the former The World Trade Center in NYC.
