Before buying a rug first of all you must understand its purpose, so you can utilize the rug perfectly. Do you want a natural rug that will be a statement piece or you want a rug with neutral design that blend with your interior. Do you want a rug that unifies all the upholsteries or you want a rug that become a master piece of the space and define a space? If you are planning to break up a room in different parts then few small rugs can be a best option.

We often recommend larger size rug because it gives a generous and calm effect to the room. You can also place the furniture like sofa on the rug. You can put the front legs of sofa on the rug and it gives a wonderful and luxurious look. Small rugs don’t offer a luxurious feel and we recommend smaller rugs in kitchen and bathrooms.

For dining area, a large rug under the table will enhance the look of that space with colors and patterns. Rug size should be in proportion to the table and should larger than the dining space. After placing the rug there should be a sufficient space to pull out a chair and sit down without the back legs coming off the rug. Minimum size that allows for this is 75cm, so that the ideal size is generally at least 1.50m larger than the table in each direction.

Remember that the center of the rug will mostly hide by the table and chairs, so the most important part of the design becomes the border.

For a bedroom, the rug is best placed underneath the bed, framing it but stopping short of the side tables this allows for rug underfoot when one gets out of bed. An alternative option is to have a smaller rug on either side of the bed.
