Now that we’ve got your attention, let’s expand a bit on today’s subject and have a look over Asian-inspired kitchens. As you are probably aware, Asian style takes its cue from many cultures such as Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, but also other Eastern cultures. As you are probably aware, Asian style takes its cue from many cultures such as Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, but also other Eastern cultures and influences contemporary kitchen interiors with Japanese tansu style cabinetry, feng shui arrangements, Asian symbols and motifs, silk Chinoiserie wallpaper and so on. So, although it’s a design described as a fusion of styles, there are some distinct recognizable elements pointing to nature, organic simplicity, peaceful and serene spaces, which gives a kitchen an unexpected yet thoroughly calming presense on a nova city.

Zen comes immediately to mind when we think how to describe an Asian-inspired room. Spiced with exotic touches, natural materials, smooth lines, such design style creates a space that exudes balance and harmony yet whispers of an underlying strength. Asian-Style Kitchens are elegant, simple, minimalist, with an emphasis on natural materials and often dramatic contrasts. Here are 8 elements to consider when remodel your kitchen in this style:

Minimalist design. An Asian kitchen is about simplicity, clean straight lines and no visual clutter. Keep the layout of the cabinetry sleek, simple, free of ornamentation. You’re free to use any configuration you want, as long as it has a smooth flow.

Balance and harmony. In terms of materials and design, harmony defines the Asian aesthetic. It must always be a balance between visual elements such as form, color and weight. The balance comes with asymmetry, the items balance each other: cabinetry with floor, long pendant lights with flower arrangement, etc. Just looking at these kitchens, makes us feel calm.

Organic materials. Woods, butcher block, subdued stone, concrete and glass are materials that have a place in Asian-style kitchens, but always combined with natural ones so that the room doesn’t feel harsh or cold. Surfaces should transmit a connection to the earth, so there are often seen wood furnishings, natural flooring that feels warm and organic like bamboo, exotic hardwoods or natural stone tiles.

Dramatic contrast. An element of drama often exists in Asian-inspired kitchens, such as a black refrigerator panels against pale cabinetry , or bold red chairs against pure white walls. Consider adding an unexpected element to spark the room: a statement lighting fixture, an unusual shaped island or a touch of glit.

Elements from nature. Plants and natural motifs are a constant presense when it comes to Asian design. It focuses on the idea of bringing the outdoors inside, so think at glass or acrylic that has bamboo, grasses or leaves embedded within it, cabinet panels with split bamboo stalks, etc. Beautiful orchids, potted bamboo plants or wheatgrass infuse the space with a sense of life and are the perfect finishing touches to such a kitchen design. Circle motif is another element to consider, as is an important symbol in Japan associated with enlightenment and Zen.

Take your time and go through each photo from the list below, analyzing details and slowly configuring your dream Asian-inspired kitchen and, as usual, please feel free to leave a comment and let us know which design is your favorite.
