  • Creative Whole Story Albums To Display Your Memories

Creative Whole Story Albums To Display Your Memories

Memories. The most beautiful and perhaps the most precious treasures in our lives. They form our past and make us feel proud regardless of what we are today. Every event in our lives turn at a time in memory. Whether we like it or not, it remains forever in our hearts. There are moments that don’t want to remember, but there are memories that uplifts us. Memories that show us for what we live, that lead us to long forgotten lands, that induce us a state of euphoria and encourage us to move on.

Have you ever thought how would look like tomorrow without yesterday? On what would be the future based if you don’t know what it was yesterday (because we act today according to yesterday)?  Well, we could talk a lot on this subject, but since memories create life stories, they deserve to be kept in gorgeous and expressive photo albums.

    Cool-photo-album-01

While these days, many of us store and access our photos digitally, usually one frame at a time, designer Debra Folz come up with an original and cool way that allows you to reach to your memories – the “Whole Story Albums”.  Her project places in the spotlight the physical sharing of stories and the idea of  exposing the entire photographic “story” at once. Thanks to a clever combination of traditional bookbinding techniques and modern engineering, the “Whole Story Albums” not only helps you to share the feeling of a unique moment with friends and family, but also looks amazing within your space.

With a book-like appearance, they’re were sculpturally designed to draw attention wherever you’ll choose to place them. These wonderful “Whole Story Albums” supports itself independently due to a reinforced front and back cover, which have a particular design making you believe that the book is melting down. The spine of the photo albums is removable and give the user the possibility to view your whole story at once. Have a look at the pictures and don’t forget that emotions doesn’t deserve to be kept in yellowy plastic bags.

  • Cradle, an Original Lounge Chair with a Hammock-Like Backrest

Cradle, an Original Lounge Chair with a Hammock-Like Backrest

Each year, worldwide interior designers come up with amazing, fresh furniture designs that inspire us to create wonderful and original looking homes. In this way, international furniture fairs are an extraordinary opportunity to see what’s new on the market and how trends evolve. Renowned British designer Benjamin Hubert for example launched at Salone Internazionale del Mobile in April 2013 at  in collaboration with Italian furniture brand Moroso a few great chairs designs, and one of them that we liked more we present it to you here, in this post.

    Creative-furniture-piece

It’s called “Cradle” and in our opinion is a fashionable furniture item dedicated to those who are looking for the comfort of a seat and the relaxation provided by a hammock. Ranking high in originality, this new lounge chair is practically a  unique mixture of two typologies of seating -a common upholstered lounge chair and a net structured hammock. Breaking the traditional rules of seating  styling and typology, the British designer took characteristics from both of them and create one original product with a very appealing architectural aesthetic.

“Cradle” features a hammock-like backrest designed using a custom-made cut pattern that allows a Kvadrat textile mesh to stretch in a controlled manner, in a three-dimensional way, in order to ensure correct support  and enough comfort for the body. This sharp rectilinear backrest is supported by a steel frame which embraces somehow the uphostered seating block. It creates a nice  visually contrast, making it interesting to observe in detail.

  • Hi.LO, a Modern Concept of Measuring Your Blood Pressure

Hi.LO, a Modern Concept of Measuring Your Blood Pressure

Diana Dumitrescu is a young industrial designer from Romania we recently discovered and whose interesting projects grab our attention in a very pleasant way. With a passion for product design, Diana likes to experiment the edges of what’s possible or accepted in design, and creates awesome and futuristic design concepts. For example, she came up with a cool idea on how should look like the well known blood pressure system we all use on a regular basis to monitor our health.

    Futuristisc-blood-pressure-device

Generally speaking, few medical accessories make you feel comfortable and give you a friendly-feeling, so talking about their designs is practically useless because in a way or another they all look quite the same. That’s why we loved Diana Dumitrescu’s wireless blood pressure system and wanted to share with you guys some photos with it. Although it’s just a concept made for a client, who knows, maybe in a not so far future, will be more than just a good-looking health gadget. Hi.LO combines the basic principles of the blood pressure measuring system with smartphone technology in one modern device that anyone can use.

It consists of a blood pressure bracelet wired to a smartphone, along with a free Hi.LO app, which users will run on their chosen device to measure their systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate. All you have to do is to install the app on your smartphone, attach the bracelet on your brachial (arm) artery and wait for the wireless connection. With a modern, sleek design and a variaty of appealing colors, Hi.LO is a attractive  blood pressure system, which comes to replace the ordinary ones you are familiar with. The interesting thing and fun in the same time is that, it does not look at all like a medical device which makes users get rid of stress and fear very often associated with such kind of accessories.

Adorable Cat Nap Cocoon with Colorful Design

We always enjoy discovering new and interesting designs made especially for our beloved pets, and if a few days before we showed you a modern suspended house for your cats, this time an adorable cocoon for them grab our attention. Created by graphic designer Vaiva Nat, “Cat Nap Cocoon” as it is called is a cute, versatile piece for your endless cat naps. Unique, with a round and playful design which resembles a napkin or a bubble, the cocoon can adapt to all sleeping preferences of cats.

    Teal-to-blue-cat-bed

Knowing the fact that cats are naturally attracted by the wool odor, it’s handmade of 100% felted wool and features a hole as an entrance, which can be modified according to the size of your cat. If your cat prefers a larger opening, then the design allows for hand cutting the entrance hole. It can be flattened out to sit like an usual cat bed or popped up to be a safe retreat. Soft and wooly when you touch it, the “Cat Nap Cocoon” can be really nice bed where your cat will feel warm and cozy all day long. • Concrete Occasional Tables with Original Design

Concrete Occasional Tables with Original Design

Intriguing and unusual, these concrete occasional tables, envisioned by talented designers from Souda designs, are really something that grab your attention from the very first moment, and if you are a fan of industrial design, then you will certainly find the Kreten side tables original and attractive. Designed and manufactured in Brooklyn, New York, the Kreten tables are an interesting take on the regular wooden tables,  the details making it look particularly odd and fun.

    so_120513_02

The idea of creating such furniture pieces started as an exploration into the omnipresence of concrete in our built environment and its predominance in many industrial applications, fact that led to the perception that concret is a cold, lifeless material. The result is a surprising mixture of fluid design inspired by tree trunks that looks nice and fresh in home interior, being as uniquely expressive as they are well-crafted.

Thinking how was possible to achieve such forms? Well, trhough a  concrete molding process: each table was individually formed in a rubberized-fabric that is stretched over an armature, then filled with fiberglass reinforced concrete. Combining the weight of the concrete and the stretch of the fabric, it came out their organic shape, unique, simple yet strong, quite different from each other. Various finishes were given at the end of the design process.
