  • Modern Window Treatments

    Modern Window Treatments

Window treatments from these days are very different from our grandmother’s old ones. Practically mandatory, those thick, heavy and unattractive curtains are now replaced with lighter, decorative layered treatments, which comes in various styles and have a huge palette of contemporary hues so that they can be customized according to our taste and the overall home’s design. Modern window treatments are less heavy, more natural  and offer a wide range of curtains, panels, over-the-top draperies, streamlined shades, blinds and shutters , that look amazing on their own and  fit the unique size of your space.

Whether you choose or not to have curtains around the windows, you should know that they don’t have only a functional role, but also aesthetical, due to the fact that they enhance the room’s design adding instant style, pattern and color and making it more attractive than before. Windows are important as they add a lot of character to a space, so when rethinking the interior design of your room even is about painting walls, getting new furniture pieces or simply just rearranging them, it’s good to consider to give the windows a fresh makeover. You’ll see the difference right away and once you find the treatments that work for your space, we guarantee that you won’t give up so easily to them. A quick way to see what you might like is to visit home decorating websites, buy modern home decorating magazines, watch home makeover shows on TV or visit local store for suggestions and ideas.

Picking out modern window treatments may prove to be funny, but it surely won’t be a snap decision because of the wide variety of fabrics, colors, styles and pattern choices. Redesigning the windows into a piece that provides a statement and creates visual interest is something that anyone can do. To offer privacy and provide the function of air circulation and lighting, you should choose carefully the texture, material and combination of colors. For a more modern look, opt for wider stripes and contrasting hues. Floor-to-ceiling-drapes are another terrific option also trendy right now due to the fact that they offer a sophisticated look. They are perfect if you want to give the illusion of a high room or for homes with higher ceilings.

Exclusive Kitchen Space with High-Tech Design

No doubt that the future is already here. High-tech design is becoming more and more present in next generation kitchen’s environments, which make us imagine how our life would look like if everything we do in our kitchen would benefit from this cutting-edge technology. Unlike the common spaces we see nowadays, these futuristic kitchen concepts offer a new cooking experience -engaging and fully interactive. Here we have a stunning kitchen design that gets a dose of Star Trek styling – Prisma kitchen.

    Prisma-kitchen-with-advanced-technology-by-Toncelli

Presented at EuroCucina 2012, a trade show for high-end kitchen furnishings, the creation is the result of the collaboration between Italian kitchen design company Toncelli and the experience design consultancy Experientia. With a modern minimalist design and simple contrasts, Toncelli’s kitchen impresses through amazing features that add fluidity to the island space: exclusive and revolutionary technology, ingenous surfaces with “prismatic” compositions, transparent top pieces illuminated from bellow, and innovative mechanisms for opening and closing the doors (invisible handles, vertical fridge and hanging cupboards). The kitchen island features a red bar above and  transparent black glass top which integrates a Samsung Galaxy Tablet that controls the basic kitchen functions like adjusting heat on the stove top, refrigerator settings and locking doors. Really impressive, isn’t it? For what else would you use the Galaxy Tab technology in such a kitchen?

  • 13 Beautiful Kitchen Island Ideas

    13 Beautiful Kitchen Island Ideas

No wonder that many people are looking for kitchen island ideas whether they are building a new home or remodeling their old kitchen. Kitchens have become over time from simple space to cook and eat to a place where family members get together, tell stories of the day and spend wonderful time each other. As for many of us the kitchen is the heart of the house, they have to be given a special attention in order to make not only a functional, usable room, but also achieve a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere there.

Kitchen island designs are one of the most requested features these days to incorporate in their design, being a more recent development that not only add a modern touch to your kitchen, but also take a kitchen to a completely new level – more functional and more comfortable. If you think of it before as a rectangular-shaped bench in the middle of your kitchen with some stools where the kids could eat before running to school, well the kitchen island is in fact much more nowadays,  having more benefits and features. You can find various unique designs, shapes and materials that will enhance the appearance of the kitchen and in the same time making it more versatile and adapted to your daily needs.

Usually, such islands are found in open kitchens with plenty space, but they can be found also in smaller kitchens which have some space for it. They are great things that store ustensils, house appliances that don’t fit in the cabinet structure such as wine refrigerator, another cooktop, a second owen, microwave or sink, provide you with the ease of food preparation and also allow you to  use them as a breakfast table. Although, they offer endless possibilities to use it, choose one that fits your design and your needs. For example, don’t buy a kitchen island that has many compartments if you will use only half of them.

In this case, slimmer design with fewer cabinets and drawers is a perfect choice. Simplicity will save space and give a cleaner look to your kitchen. Depending on the style you want to embrace in your kitchen, there are many different materials and colors to choose from in order to make your cooking area unique and original. For example, glass, metal  and granite with vibrant colors will create a modern aura, while wood, cast iron, composite stone with sandy and brown hues will give a classic look. Just inspire yourself and bring a stylish touch to your kitchen with one of these amazing ideas.

    Stylish Teenage Girl Bedroom Ideas

Looking for fresh teenage girl bedroom ideas for this year? We thought to give you a helping hand and gathered 8 pictures with teenage girl rooms with appealing design styles and eye-catching details, which allow them to indulge in their decorating dreams every single day. Teen girls want mostly to leave behind childhood tokens and choose a more sophisticated style in the long run, and looking from their point of view this is somehow normal, isn’t it? For them it’s important to keep their room updated with new things, which can be a real headache when we don’t always have the money for that. But, here’s the good news: a fresh new look, organized and uncluttered for your teenage girl doesn’t have to be always expensive. Of course, hiring a designer to deal with this situation is the best solution, but if you are on a budget, be creative and you’ll certainly have an amazing result (example: choose a new lively focal point, organize differently her collections of small things, repaint a few piece of furniture with vibrant colors, choose another theme she loves, etc.).

When it comes to decorating a teenage girl’s room, it’s important to take your daughter’s opinion into account, to listen to her wishes and vision about how should look like her room, because she is the one who will spend her most of the time in it. It should be pleasing for both parents and teens, so the space should have a design that reflects the girl’s sweet and energetic personality, be age-appropriate and fit the style with the rest of the rooms. A mix of joyful spirit which includes clean lines, cheerful color palettes, quality furniture and cozy fabrics might be a very good choice in order to create youthful and light bedrooms that will grow with the girl. A custom headboard, patterned pillows, modern lamps, linens and fluffy beds, linens and fluffy beds, pale blue butterfly wallpaper keeps it from feeling over the top  add visual texture and depth to the vibrant space. Top on the list of preferences are bright floral designs, that can be used for curtains, pillows covers, linen, as well as for walls coverings.

Colors are very important to create a wonderful feminine atmosphere, determine the theme and style, while unifying the entire design of the space and you should have fun exploring an endless range of options. From classic pinks and purples, shades of orange, green, gold and blue to sunny combinations of turquoise and peachy-orange, navy and pink, pink, white and grey, yellow, orange and grey, etc. Choose one or two main colors and combine different intensities of them to open up the possibilities. Don’t forget to test large swatches of paint on the wall before deciding to one and see how they change their appearance through the day. Take a look and get inspired from some beautiful pictures below.
